Today I have a different (non polish) review for you, I am testing out the long-lasting LipSense® by SeneGence® lipcolor. I know many of you have seen those magical videos floating around Instagram and Facebook of a lip product that seemingly lasts through anything. I was able to receive this product and wanted to test it out to see how it held up under different circumstances.

According to LipSense® by SeneGence® :

The premier product for SeneGence®, LipSense is a patented, amazing departure from conventional lipsticks and lip colors. LipSense is versatile in that you can mix shades to create a number of effects.

  • Unique product is waterproof and does not kiss off, smear off, rub off, or budge off!
  • Does not dry out your lips – it works to restore the moisture content
  • Color lasts anywhere between 4 and 18 hours

“Aussie Rose”

This shade is a rosey pink that has red undertones and subtle golden shimmer. It applies more like a gloss in terms of coverage but dries to a matte finish. This shade is on the sheer side and while the directions say to apply 3 layers you may need more to achieve a deeper color payoff.

I was really excited to review this lipcolor, until I read the ingredients. I was sad to see this contains “parfum” (most liquid/long-lasting lipcolors do not) and knew I would be allergic to it. For the sake of science I tried it anyway and I developed bad cystic acne around my chin, one of the more severe allergic reactions I have to fragrance.  So for the demo I used my hand ( I did notice itching afterwards but did not have a severe reaction). *edit- I found out that parfum is a required additive due to the denatured alcohol, otherwise they wouldn’t be able to sell to anyone under 21. Darn kids! 😉

I also noticed a burning sensation on my lips after application, a “tingling” sensation is said to be expected but I felt it was a bit stronger than a tingle. This went away after it dried. I also found that it wasn’t moisturizing like it claims to be, but it also didn’t dry out my lips.

It does have a good wear time and seems to fade off rather than flake or peel. If you aren’t allergic to fragrance/parfum I think it’s worth checking out, but if you are I would stay away as to avoid reactions.

  3. Wow! I have to say, I am both deeply impressed and a bit frightened by how well it stayed put through all of your demos. I love long lasting makeup, but also am a bit hesitant if the removal process is a daunting task. What would you recommend as the best method of removal for this type of lipstick?
