Today I have swatches of the new OPI Soft Shades Pastels 2016 collection….

OPI Soft Shades Pastels-004 OPI Soft Shades Pastels-002(L to R)

It’s in the Cloud is a soft beige-y white creme, opaque in 2 coats.

Stop I’m Blushing! is a soft peach creme that leans slightly orange, opaque in 2 coats.

This Cost Me a Mint is a soft muted minty green creme, opaque in 2 coats.

OPI Soft Shades Pastels-003(L to R)

I am what I Amethyst is a soft lavender creme that leans blue, opaque in 2 coats.

It’s a Boy! is a soft baby blue creme (guess the name is pretty fitting), opaque in 2 coats.

One Chic Chick is a soft muted yellow creme (looks more yellow IRL than the swatch), opaque in 2 coats.

Overall: This collection has a nice assortment of cremes that are nice for Spring, they do apply somewhat patchy on the first coat, but even out and become opaque on the second coat. They have nice coverage for pastels and have a true creme finish, rather than a crelly.

OPI Soft Shades Pastels-001 OPI Soft Shades PastelsTo create this look I made polish decals for each of the fingers. Starting with the middle and ring fingers I used: Stop I’m Blushing!, This Cost me a Mint, and It’s a Boy! (middle) and It’s in the Cloud, I am what I Amethyst, and One Chic Chick (ring) to create a “smooshed” decal. I applied the colors to my stamper head, then with another (clean) stamping head I smooshed the two together (whoa getting technical here!) until I achieved a look I liked. Be sure not to over-smoosh, once they start drying they will stick and start to pull apart the design. Once it dried I applied it to my nail like I did with my previous decal, then stamped it with BM 605 using B Polished Midnight in Death Valley. For my index and pinky fingers I created a stamp decal using BM605   with B Polished Midnight in Death Valley and painted the colors directly over the stamp (no base color used). I learned I needed to wait a little longer before applying the color to the stamp, once I started to apply the polish it smeared the stamp (not the top coat) which I didn’t see until after I applied it to the nail  😐 .
