Sally Hansen Spring Designer Collection

Press Sample

Although we haven’t had much Spring weather here I am totally in loving all the Spring shades that are releasing! Today’s swatches and nail art feature colors from Sally Hansen’s Spring Designer Collection, part of the Complete Salon Manicure line.

Sally Hansen Spring Designer Shades-003 Sally Hansen Spring Designer Shades-004(L to R) Dessert Poppy, Dark Denim, Pale Sand

Desert Poppy is a nice true orange creme, opaque in 2 coats.

Dark Denim is a deep navy blue with hidden blue shimmer, the shimmer is so hidden I thought it was a deep crelly until I photographed it in the sun! Opaque in 2 coats.

Pale Sand is a true medium beige crelly.

Sally Hansen Spring Designer Shades-005(L to R) Pink Sand, Teesta Turquoise, Tupelo Honey

Pink Shell is a pinky beige frost, opaque in two coats. To avoid brush strokes you can apply a final layer using a sponge.

Teesta Turquoise is a bright turquoise, opaque in 2 coats.

Tupelo Honey is a yellow-orange toned tan. This is one of those shades that isn’t particularly flatter on pale/light skin, especially pink toned, but would look lovely on deeper more olive skin tones.

Sally Hansen Spring Designer Shades-006(L to R) King of Shadows, Kashmir Valley, Sheer Force

King of Shadows is a soft lavender creme, opaque in 2 coats.

Kashmir Valley is a gorgeous peachy coral crelly…love!!!!! This is opaque in 2 coats.

Sheer Force is a sheer off-white. Two coats gives you full coverage but it is a sheer so you will have to do many coats to reach full opacity.

Sally Hansen Spring Designer Shades Sally Hansen Spring Designer Shades-001 Sally Hansen Spring Designer Shades-002Looking at the colors together reminded me of a beautiful sunset over the ocean so I went with it.

To create this look:

  1. I applied liquid tape around the cuticle and half of the nail (what would be the ocean and sand).
  2. I did a sponge gradient using Dark Denim, King of Shadows, Kashmir Valley and Desert Poppy. The sun was created with Desert Poppy and yellow acrylic paint.
  3. Once that dried I removed the liquid tape form the lower portion of the nail and brushed on Teesta Turquoise horizontally across the center of the nail, leaving the free edge bare. Then I applied a horizontal stripe of Pale Sand along the free edge.
  4. To give the sand some depth I very lightly sponged on Tupelo Honey and Sheer Force using a natural sea sponge.
  5. Once the nails were dry I applied liquid tape over the sunset and sand portions of the nail. I then used the water spotting method to apply Dark Denim, Teesta Turquoise and Sheer Force to create depth in the ocean.
  6. After removing the liquid tape I applied Sheer Force just to the edge of the ocean, where it meets the sand, to blend the two together.
  7. I top coated the whole nail and let that dry. Once dried,  I applied B Polished Make it Satin (form my own line!!) to the sunset and Make it Matte to the sand leaving the water shiny.
  8. To give the sand a bit more texture I very, very lightly sponged on Pink Shell using a natural sea sponge.
  9. For the castle I used Tupelo Honey and BM-509 and filled it in with Pale Sand to create a decal.

I had a lot of fun creating this look and I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did!
