NYC Fashion Queen Collection

Press Sample

If you remember a few weeks ago I posted the official press release to the new NYC Fashion Queen Collection, today I have some swatches for you!

NYC Fall Fashion Queen collection

Today I have swatches of the three new solid shades: Royal Chic, Queen of the City, and Crown Gold. These limited-edition shades are packed with pigment and infused with magnesium, iron, copper, and calcium to strengthen nails.

NYC Fashion Queen Collection Royal Chic

Royal Chic
is a deep true chocolate brown opaque crelly/ high gloss creme.  Formula was on the thin side but very easy to work with, and was fully opaque in two coats. This dries to a super shiny finish, as you can see in the shade photo (I did not apply top coat over this!). I’m not usually a fan of brown, especially ones that lean orange, but this one is so glossy and rich that it actually looked good! While the sun make it look more like milk chocolate the true color is closer to the one in the shade, a rich dark chocolate. (Are you hungry yet, this description is making me crave Godiva 😉 )

NYC Fashion Queen Collection Queen of the CityQueen of the City is a rich red based purple, or a plum wine, with lots of shimmer. Formula was great, on the thinner side but very easy to work with and the best part is this color is a one coater! After one coat the color is full and opaque, I was afraid to do another coat making it too dark and thus losing the shimmer. This photo isn’t exactly color accurate ( I was adjusting the setting on the camera and they didn’t come out perfect * hangs head in shame), it is much deeper and more purple IRL.

NYC Fashion Queen Collection Crown GoldCrown Gold is a golden metallic. Again this pic isn’t completely color accurate, the camera picked up more of the orange tones where IRL it’s more golden that leans orange. This applied nicely, two coats gives you full opaque coverage but like most metallics you can see tons of brushstrokes. To avoid this you can do one coat, wait for it to dry then apply a second coat using a sponge to get a smoother more even finish.

Overall: These shades are great for Fall! They applied nicely and are 1 and two coaters with amazing color payoff.

Price: This collection is available now and retails for $1.99 at drugstores.
