Salon Perfect First Look Fall Fashion Forecast (Complete Collection)….

Press Sample

A while ago I was lucky enough to find a [full] display of the new Salon Perfect First Look Fall Fashion Forecast collection at my local Wal-Mart. But, I restrained myself to only 5 out of the 10 colors (there’s 11 total polishes in the collection including the Matte FX). Today I have for you the remaining 5 colors plus the matte topcoat!

*all swatches are 2 coats no topcoat, unless noted*

First let’s look at the previous colors(

Royal Knight when mattified almost looks black. The color deepens and almost flattens out, loosing it’s beautiful subtle shimmer.
Raisin the Roof looks amazing matte! The base color deepens allowing the pinkish golden shimmer to come through.
Pink Taffeta loses the gold shift but still shows the subtle golden shimmer when mattified.
Ivy League is just an amazing color that everyone must own. It looks stunning on it’s own(or with topcoat) but it also looks so beautiful mattified. When matte the base color deepens and you lose that green color shift but the green shimmer still shows through.
Dirty Martini looks even more golden when mattified. You can also see more of the golden shimmer when it’s matte.
Playful Plum is a gorgeous deep plum with red and blue micro shimmer.
When mattified the shimmer comes through even more.
Red Dahlia is a blackened red shimmer.
When mattified it almost looks like a black base with red micro shimmer. I’m not a big fan of this one mattified because it becomes a little too dark (for me).
Scarlet Enchantment is a bright, fiery red shimmer. This would be a great red for some with a medium skin tone.
It almost becomes a soft metallic red when mattified.
Tainted Love is a slightly peachy, pink shimmer with a green shift. It’s a pretty color but it kinda reminds me of the frosty pinks from the 90’s lol.
It does look better mattified because you lose the frostiness and you’re left a peachy pink with green shimmer.
But of course I had to test this one over black(FingerPaints Black Expressionism)! When you put Tainted Love over black it becomes an opulent pearl color. You mainly see green with a slight shift to pink.
Mattified, you lose the frostiness and are left with green shimmer.
Nautical Nights is a deep blue shimmer.
Mattified it becomes a deep blue metallic.
Café Olé is a brown taupe with subtle golden shimmer
Not a fan of this mattifed, it becomes flat and just looks like a brown taupe.
Dupe alert!
Since Salon Perfect is manufactured by the same company as China Glaze you’ll often find dupes (but at a much lower cost) and this is one of them. On the left is Café OlĂ©  and on the right is China Glaze Ingrid. Ingrid is slightly darker but otherwise the color is identical.
Matte comparison
(L to R) 1 coat Playful Plum, 1 coat plus 1 coat SP Matte FX, 1 coat plus 1 coat Hard Candy Matte-ly in Love
I am in love with the matte topcoat! Until now my only experience with matte topcoats was Hard Candy’s Matte-ly in Love, which I thought was nice. However, after comparing them I don’t think I can go back to using the HC one. SP applies perfectly smooth and leaves behind zero streaks. HC on the other hand looked like it covered the nail but dried looking pretty streaky.
Overall: This is a great Fall collection with several hits. If you could only pick up a couple of these my top picks would be: Ivy League, Playful Plum and  Matte FX. The formula is perfect on all of these, two coats to even opaqueness.
Price: These retail for $3.98 each and are exclusive to Wal-Mart.
