BornPretty Magic Purple/Pink Mood Changing Polish...

I recently received this super cool color changing polish from BornPrettyStore.com and I was so excited to try it...

Ylin Mood Color Changing Nail Polish changes from purple(cold) to pink(warm) depending on the temperature. I have to say, I am such a sucker for polishes that can do things (i.e. magnetics, color changing, holographic etc.) and this was just such a fun polish to wear.

But *sigh* I have a love/hate relationship with this polish. I'm not sure whether I got a bad bottle or what but it was super thick and goopy and I had to really thin it out before I could even use it. Yet, even after thinning, it was still on the thick side but manageable. One good thing was this only required 1 coat to achieve full opacity.
I did try using this with a base and top coat but they didn't play well with each other and caused it to just peel off the nail. So, I decided to just skip the base and top coats and do 1 coat of the mood changing polish and got much better results, although it did seem to take a very long to dry since I couldn't use my quick dry top coat.

Then the sad part came after I had dipped my nails in water to see the color changing effect and it bubbled and peeled off. My guess, it was dry to the touch but not fully dry so the sudden change in temperature + water caused it to bubble and peel.

Overall: I still cant help but to like this polish simply because IT CHANGES COLOR! lol And if you're someone that is always warm this will give you a no effort gradient effect, no water needed =). Maybe if I wasn't so impatient and let it dry more (and maybe do a thinner coat) this really has the potential to be really awesome.

  1. Or those dry drops! Also I just recently saw Polished by KPT has thermal polishes that has the same effect.

  2. I have these too and I love them! Though I agree the formula is a little tricky. What works best for me is painting extremely thin layers and waiting a good few minutes before they are fully dry before adding the next coat. :)
