Manly Movember Mani...

It's the last week of November so I thought I'd do one last Movember mani. I want to say a big thank you to Amanda from Berrypolished.com who sent me these wonderful Big Ruby nail tattoos (if you don't follow me on Facebook, I won her Halloween themed nail art contest =) ) which are perfect for Movember.

Base color is SH Bandage

Mirror, Mirror on...my nails!? ....

Now I know today's nails are not for everyone but for special occasions these are awesome!

They are Solid Silver false nails that I received from KKCenterHk. These come with 12 nails, sizes 0-9 (1 of each size except 5 & 6 which you get 2 of) and a small tube of nail glue.  Both the top and underside are coated in a mirror finish that is so reflective, it's just stunning.

These offer you a true mirror finish unlike anything that can be achieved by regular shiny metallic/chrome nail polish....

My son's wonderful chalk drawing ;)

It's Frosty!!

These nails are so cool! I'm all about shiny things and nothing is more shiny than wearing a mirror on your nails lol. I do have to say I was a little sad that the tips had a chunk missing from the mirror finish. However, they are on the longer side so I could easily file them down to remove it and still be left with decent length.

This does come with a tube of glue, however I would recommend using good quality glue ( I like Nail Bliss glue from Sally's) just to make sure they stay on longer. If you wish to wear them just for a night out (and want to reuse them) I like to use Nailene adhesive tabs, they are strong enough to last through the night but they allow you to easily remove them with zero damage to your nails.

Like I said before you get 12 nails in the box in sizes 0-9, I have small fingers and nails so I was able to find a perfect fit for each nail with no problems.

Price: $2.89 a box (at this price if you are concerned about not having enough of a certain size you could get 2 boxes, for a total of 24 nails, for $5.78 which is roughly the same cost of most drugstore false nails)

Layla Hologram Effect: Part 3...

Almost done! These swatches are part of the recently released 2nd collection of colors...

Gold Idol looks more lime yellow than gold. It's a pretty color but I do wish it was more yellow gold.

Emerald Divine is a gorgeous kelly green. This color is everything I wished Jade Groove was!

Sock Pink is a medium reddish pink, in my opinion this and Red Taboo should change names lol.

Red Taboo is a bright pink with purple undertones.

A Taste of Honey...

I recently picked up the Clinique Taste of Honey lip set from Sephora and I thought I'd do a mini review on them lol, because the're minis so I'm doing a "mini" review, get it ;) ...oook onto the pics...

(from L to R) Black Honey, Luscious Honey, Flirty Honey, Shy Honey

Black Honey: a warm brownish red/borderline plum
Luscious Honey: bright pink
Flirty Honey: medium pink
Shy Honey: pale pink

All of these colors go one very sheer but you can build up the color, however, you will never achieve an opaque look because they are meant to be color tints not lipsticks. The feel of these is very nice they aren't sticky or slick, they feel similar to a lip balm. And while the color doesn't really last too long they do leave your lips feeling soft, even after the color wears away you can still feel product on your lips when you rub them together.

Note the size of the product, these are meant to be a sample try me kit geared to holiday gift giving.
L: Clinique Flirty Honey R: Maybelline Forever Lipcolor in Punch

This set retails for $29.50 and is currently not in stock at Sephora.com but they might still be available at the retail stores.

Layla Hologram Effect: Part 2....

Here are the next 4 colors in this swatch series...

Jade Groove is a very pale green, it almost looks silver with a hint of green. I was so disappointed with this because I wanted it to be a true green but the color is so pale you can hardly tell that it's green. (But they totally make up for this with Emerald Divine!)

 Mermaid Spell is pale blue.

Ocean Rush is a bright blue, this color is stunning!

Flash Black is black but when the sun hits it, OH MY HOLO! I originally passed on this color because I thought I wouldn't like it, then I saw swatches of it and had to have it! So when I ordered the new collection I also picked this up and I'm so happy I did. Out of all of the colors in either collection this has by far the best rainbow effect.

And I will be doing my review on them in part 4, I also decided I'm going to do a video explaining how to apply and what happens when you apply them over different bases.

Dapper in Blue....

Today is World Diabetes Day and since it's still Movember I thought I'd combine the two.

This mani is dedicated to my late Grandfather who passed away back in January of this year. My Grandfather suffered from Diabetes for as long as I can remember and I use the word suffer for a reason, he developed severe skin conditions due to Diabetes that caused him great pain and discomfort. He was a great man and I miss him dearly and since today is about bringing awareness to not only men's health issues I urge everyone to see their doctor and make sure they don't become another Diabetes statistic.

For the blue I used Kleancolor Cobalt and freehanded stripes of Layla Mermaid Spell and Ocean Rush. Accent nail is SH Bandage(rubberized) and Pure Ice Black Out. For the inside of the hat I had hand placed iridescent glitter but it just looked clear in the pics so I retouched it to make it look filled in.

Layla Hologram Effect: Part 1....

I'm sooo excited to finally do this series! Out of all the polishes I own, this collection is my pride and joy. The holographic effect was what initially got me started in my polish addiction so when Layla Cosmetics came out with their Hologram Effect collection I was super happy.

I decided to break down the collection into 4 colors for each part of the series, this is going to be a 4 part series. All swatches have 3 coats, no base or top coat.

Mercury Twilight is a true silver. If you layer it over a metallic silver(like Essie No Place like Chrome) it become a stunning silver holographic foil.

 Coral Glam is peachy pink.

Retro Pink is a soft pink.

Ultra Violet is a cool toned light purple.
