Baby Shower NOTD...

This weekend I went to a friend of mine's baby shower. Since she's having a girl I wanted to do something girly and sparkly...

I won one of the shower games and the prize was a measuring spoon set (it has love measure measurements: A Pinch of Patience = 1/4 teaspoon; A Dash of Kindness = 1/2 teaspoon, etc... it's so cute )

My stash...

Thought I'd share my pictures of my stash and where I do my nails.

Top drawer: topcoats, treatment nail polish, bowl for water marbleing, nail swatches, pigments I got from TKB, and nail wraps

Bottom drawer: nail tools and files, acetone and non-acetone, alcohol, nail glue dryer, and febreeze( I've found it really helps get rid of the nail polish smell)

**I deleted my stash pics when I was trying to thin out my pics so since they were lost in the blog debacle I don't have them anymore. I need to take new pics because my stash has greatly expand since then anyhow lol.

This actually has secret shimmer but the camera refused to pick it up =(

Then I wanted to test out the nail art pen. Oh boy was I disappointed, look at the awfulness it created...

I couldn't believe how horribly this pen applied, it's almost like a Sharpie threw up on the nail. Sometimes it went on very thin and watery,like a permanent marker, but then it would become thick and left nasty clumps. If you look at the detail pictures you can see that it left dents in the polish(I'll take the blame for that though because the base coat wasn't fully dry), so if you're doing any kinda of art work it becomes very messy.

But now for some gorgeousness...

I applied one coat over China Glaze Velvet Bow..

 It looks like a duochrome glass fleck shimmer

Then I added the rest of the Fx in the kit..

The Striper is a true gold and the glitter is a holographic gold (it comes in a squeeze tube that you "puff" onto wet nail polish, as you can see the base was still slightly tacky which is why there's glitter scattered on the nail). I really like this set, aside from coming up with designs it's super easy to use.

It comes in two different sets a warm and a cool...

My first no clean-up mani..

I was very proud of this mani, I have never been able to paint my nails without polish flooding my cuticles and getting polish all over my skin. So this time I was careful and took my time and this is the result...

A little about me...

I have always been a beauty lover, I love color and anything shiny.  For many, many years my first love was makeup.  I used to be an avid makeup collector but now that I am a stay at home mom of two little boys, aged 20 months and 5 months (my days are very busy!), I rarely leave the house(but if I do I will try to share my Face of the Day=FOTD) so I've turned my love of color to nail polish. However, I have a love/hate relationship with my nails, I love them but they hate me. I struggle with paper thin nails that break easy, so I am constantly on the search for great treatment products that actually work.  In addition to my manis I plan on doing picture reviews to document the progress of my nails using various nail treatments.
